52 Weeks in the year
I have tried twice now to complete a 90 day project, taking one shot every day and posting on my blog and flickr. Strangely enough both attempts I have burnt out around 60 days, simply found all my creativity has gone and I struggle to even find anything other than the mundane.
I cannot deny that the exercise is valuable, it keeps you looking for a picture, all the time, always seeking inspiration. That however is the problem, the constant search is tiring and uses up your creative juices fast. So perhaps a different approach is in order?
I decided last night, as I took a snap of my brothers new pup Benson with my G9 that this photograph would be the first of 52 images. One every week for a whole year. I am hoping that a week will give me time to find a good image and at the same time not burn me out.
So what about rules? Well in the interest of keeping it fun you make the rules. You could shoot the same landscape every week for a year, or challenge yourself to make sure an image is nothing like the previous weeks. Perhaps you want to shoot nothing but flowers or self portraits. Perhaps to add further incentive to maximise quality and to keep a record plan to put them in a photobook at the end of the 52 weeks.
So here’s to the next 52 weeks and the interesting images I hope to find! Feel free to join me, I would love to see your work too! So please get in touch!

What a cracking shot. I’d spoil Benson something terrible If he was mine.
The lady sure loved her dog. He couldn’t understand why he had to sit there and have lights flased at him when all he really wanted was to sit on the photographer.
