Wow I must admit February is usually a very quiet month photography wise, its often the build up prior to the start of the photography season in spring. This year however was different, a trip to venice was on the cards. I was fortunate to share an apartment with 3 other photographers and 2 models and our stay would span 4 nights.
For those who haven’t visited this wonderful place, I can only describe is being in a state of decadent decay. It has a magical quality that suggests that it was once glorious and expensive, but is now slowly crumbling away. This however is all part of its magic, that shabby chic is so compelling and beautiful.
It would have been rude to spend time in Venice without shooting something on location, so in-between lots of walks and exploration, I managed to sneak off to shoot a few images for myself. The beauty of the city is just begging to be photographed, even packing light and only having two lights with me, so much is possible.
My model was Loretta Hope (www.lorettahope.co.uk), the costume/stylings were provided by Neil Hughes (neilhughes.co.uk). The results were definitely something I am proud to have shot. Special thanks to Damian McGillicuddy who assisted us (now that was a rare experience) in creatively directing the shot on the steps which was a concept by Sharon Mallinson. Thanks all, a fabulous time was had by all.
