Coventry – Urban Environmental Portrait Photography

Today saw me heading out to shoot some on location in Coventry to shoot urban environmental portraits. An environmental portrait is simply a portrait ahot on location out in the real world as opposed to a studio. The locations can be anywhere, be that a stately home, your own house, the beach, out in the street, absolutely anywhere.

Part of the joy of being a photographer is meeting some great people and Joanna is no exception. A local Warwickshire girl with an interest in fashion, we met in Coventry to shoot some urban environmental portraits. Within 90 minutes we managed to shoot a variety of different shots and incorporate the fantastic Coventry cathedral as a backdrop. The beauty however of the urban portrait is the backgrounds can be any urban area and with the right lighting and planning anywhere can lead to a great portrait.

Coventry Environmental Portraiture

Its hard not to gravitate towards the fabulous medieval parts of the city and although Joanna was new to being the subject of photography we got some great natural images. Urban environmental portraits can be shot absolutely anywhere and still look incredibly striking.

As we left, it seemed a great idea to shoot the final shot with the car we had travelled to the shoot in.
