Looking forward to 2012, New Project
It seems to have been a particularly mild winter this year, and I even managed to get a little time off to attend the SWWP Photography Convention in London. The convention really gave me a chance to meet fellow photographers, network and find inspiration for 2012. The year is certainly an exciting prospect for me. [...]
SWPP November Competition – Gold Award
November see’s the last monthly competition with the Societies. Being a member of the SWPP I thought it was about time I entered a few more images and the last one of the year seemed fitting. I entered a few images and am pleased to announce I was awarded 1 Gold award for this image [...]
Quick update from Warwickshire Photographer
Well things have been very busy here and I haven’t had a lot of time for my personal projects. As always it’s often my priority to get images finished before I look at the work I do just for me. The last shoot I posted about with Roxana in Birmingham still has a long list [...]
Bridal Shoot in Birmingham – Brindley Place
I had been planning on carrying out a bridal shoot, mostly just for fun and my portfolio. Fortunately Roxana a friend from Birmingham was available as was a wedding dress kindly provided by Robert Newman. So we travelled to St Thomas’s Peace Garden in Birmingham to capture some bridal style images. This garden was a classical [...]
Band Shoot with Sansara at Netley Abbey
For once I wasn’t in Warwickshire, or even the Midlands but travelled down to Netley Abbey near Southampton for a shoot with some of my New Forest Photography friends. I had two shoots that day one with a band, another with a young lady called Alex (a later post), and sadly I missed the chance [...]
Mentoring with Damian McGillicuddy
What a fantastic weekend! Not only did I manage to attend a training day for Urban kids, but I also got on the bank holiday to spend a day with my mentor Damian. We were in for a real treat that day, the format of the shoot session of the day was a shoot as [...]
Urban Kids – training day with Damian McGillicuddy
This weekend I was lucky to spend not one but two days with my mentor Damian. It is safe to say I look forward to my days with my mentor like a child looks forward to Christmas day. The first day was Urban kids, taking some nice portraits in and around the most unlikely of [...]
Mentoring with Damian McGillicuddy March 2011
Monday saw me heading to Warrington to see Damian ‘Big Dog’ McGillicuddy. For those of you who have followed my blog, you will know what I have been attending several mentoring sessions a year with Damian. In fact it is safe to say I have not spent money on any other training since discovering Damian. [...]
Exhibition 2011 – Fighting depression – casting call
My exhibition will highlight through photography the aspects and symptoms of depression and the dual lives that many people who suffer from it may well be living. I also want to challenge the depression stigma, where many people are afraid to admit it and instead suffer without support. Learning to cope and work through depression is achievable if we just accept and tackle it head on.
Kieran and Chelsea Engagement Shoot
Kieran and Chelsea were scheduled as my last wedding of 2010. The couple had contacted me because they wanted what they referred to as natural photographs. They were convinced that they didn’t want “posed” shots and just some natural captures of the day. I am of course happy to oblige, natural happiness in photographs is not something that can be easily faked, so its always important to capture whats real.
A Wedding with Treasured Forever
I had the pleasure of working with Treasured Forever photography on the 1st of August at the wedding of Steven and Emma.
Hand Fasting at Ossian’s Hall
25th of July 2010 saw me fly up to Edinburgh for the beautiful and intimate wedding. This couple certainly did things differently to anything I have seen before. From the purple dress, the remote and dramatic venue or simply travelling to the venue with Killswitch Engage blaring out of the windows of the Mercedes, it was a weekend to remember!
Bridal Boudoir and Portraits
Friday saw a day shooting with Damian McGillicuddy at a workshop in Chester covering Bridal boudoir and portraits.
Engagement Photo Shoot with John and Sarah
John and Sarah are a lovely couple with Sarah from Coventry and John from Nuneaton originally. Their wedding just a few short weeks away it the weather was very kind to us on this engagement shoot. They truly were a great couple and we had great fun even if it was a little cold.
Congratulations, Marriage of Gareth and Christie
Actually my first wedding this year and part of my slow build up into wedding photography in 2010. The couple Gareth and Christie were lovely, getting married in a beautiful Church in Weddington in Nuneaton. Despite living in the area for most of my life, I had no idea it was there. The little hidden [...]
Derwent Water, Cumbria
Last weekend I headed to the lake district with a photographer friend to shoot some landscapes. Landscapes are something I did when I first started photography but not something I have ever really done regularly. In fact this was my 2nd ever shoot of this kind. The scenery there for any who havent been is [...]
Gig Photography – Band “Say Yes More”
The 52 weeks continue to pass rapidly and Friday saw me attempting gig photography. I am not very experienced in this kind of photography and it brings its own unique challenges. Many photographers will of course see photography as a means to control and capture light. In a gig you have next to no control [...]
52 Weeks in the year
I have tried twice now to complete a 90 day project, taking one shot every day and posting on my blog and flickr. Strangely enough both attempts I have burnt out around 60 days, simply found all my creativity has gone and I struggle to even find anything other than the mundane. I cannot deny [...]
Heading out to the surf
It was the annual trip to Devon with my friends the past weekend and still love Croyde. Heading down on the R1, it was a rather long ride but the reward at the end is well worth it. Stunning scenery, beautiful sunny weather, cloudy cider and good company. You can’t forget the fantastic surf either, [...]
SWPP
I have joined the Society for Wedding and Portrait Photography. I am currently working on my submission for Licentiate. I hope the Mentoring programme will prove invaluable.
Compact Camera Gig Photography
Ahhh Nine Inch Nails, a band I have listened to since I was 17, and still one of my favourites. For those who dont know their latest tour is also their last. Trent Reznor the musician behind them has decided to hang up his gigging hat. I got to see them at the MEN Arena [...]
Classic Lola
If it’s of interest I intend to post up some before and after shots to show the difference some basic processing can make. There are so many theories on Post processing it’s difficult to know which one is best. The answer I think is whichever you prefer. In recent months I have favoured a very [...]
Lola Hope Yamaha R1
The lovely Lola and my R1 bike. Went for a slightly aged look with this shot, even though the bike isnt that old. It may be hard to believe but the sun was so bright here, that I could not see my screen on camera to check that my settings and lights were correct. Best [...]
