Experimental art nude body painting make up shoot

Sometimes its good to just setup the studio and collaborate with other creatives and see what you can come up with. Sunday was just such a day, meeting up with Loretta Hope and MUA Helen Ginder.

Helen trained with my good friend Neil Hughes and was keen to shoot something after a period away from the brushes (and airbrush). I have a great love of all things theatrical, especially fantastical makeup and styling, it’s always fascinating to watch the layers build up and the looks change and evolve as the makeup is applied.

Loretta is no stranger to art nude, nor to body paint. She previously modelled for me, way back when I first started photography. It’s always good to look back and see how far we have came, both Loretta and I have developed considerably since then and worked hard to perfect our technique. All the talent in the world is worthless without the knowledge and technique, or in my case knowledge can makeup for a lack of natural talent with enough work and time.

It is always good to look at where we came from and how far we have travelled. These images were part of my first submission to the SWPP and much to my surprise I was awarded a Licentitate with them. Since then I’ve been privileged to mentor with Damian McGillicuddy to further fuel my passion and learning.
